Limpopo is a land of beautiful and contrasting landscapes, which is typical of Africa. It has become a favourite destination for leisure and adventure travelers worldwide. We have compiled a list of places to visit in this region of infinite scenic beauty with a great diversity. With a name meaning "strong gushing waterfalls" in the Sepedi language, Limpopo features powerful streams, rivers, and waterfalls. Ivory Wilderness provides a morning and afternoon walking or driving activity, concluding each day with an early evening night drive to search for the more nocturnal creatures. Each morning and afternoon activity is between 3 to 4 hours in length, while the walking trails average between 3 and 9 km's in distance, baring in mind guest fitness levels and trail activity. 1) Meet the world's most famous hippo at Hippo Jessica, a feeding ground for this charming hand-reared herbivorous mammal. Found as a calf, Jessica was reared by humans until she was strong enough to be released back into the wild. Although free to come and go as she pleases, Jessica returns regularly for meals and playtime with visitors. 2) Visit their different African Restaurants and experiences their food such as Mopane Womb and poridge with traditional beer called Amarula beer.  

3) Wildlife Care and Vervet Monkey Rehabilitation Facility Located 20km out of Bela Bela in Limpopo, a quaint town in the Waterberg area of South Africa. Bambelela offers one and a half hour guided tours offering in-depth knowledge and first-hand experiences about hand-raising wild animals and primates. Some of the animals can be touched and there are great photo opportunities. 

Orphaned and injured African animals are cared for with the aim of rehabilitating them back into the wild. Tours are by appointment only. 

4) Full-Day Endangered Species Tour from Hazyview. Visit two distinct conservation centres and see rescue and rehabilitation efforts firsthand. 5) Game viewing from open safari vehicles in the Kruger National Park has to be one of the ultimate safari experiences in Africa and being able to do this in a day is ideal for those with limited time available. You start your day early with an exciting open vehicle game drive. During the course of the day, you will make comfort stops at a scenic picnic spot or a Rest Camp with restaurants & shops where you can get something to eat before setting off to explore more of the Big 5 in the Kruger Park. 6) Visit Agatha Crocodile Ranch. They are situated on a picturesque avocado farm in the Limpopo Province, and they offer family entertainment at affordable rates! They offer adventurous daily tours through the ranch, an opportunity to touch a baby crocodile and also to feed the bigger crocodiles, a curio shop and a local art gallery. Agatha Crocodile Ranch is a MUST see! It would greatly enhance any tourist experience of South Africa to visit the ranch and encounter one of Africa's greatest predators.

7) Visit the Baobab Tree Bar in Modjadjiskloof. The Sunland ‘Big Baobab’ is famous internationally for being the widest of its species in the world. Africa is symbolised by these magnificent trees. The Sunland Big Baobab is carbon dated to be well over 1 700 years old and has even made the front page of the Wall Street Journal! 

When baobabs become a thousand years old, they begin to hollow inside. In the Big Baobab this has resulted in wonderful caverns and caves, where the world famous Baobab Tree Bar now amazes visitors. Day visitors to the tree: R25.00 per person. Kids under 3 free!

1) The word is out and A-listers are flocking to Saskia Fine Dining Restaurant, at Fusion Boutique Hotel, for sun downers and decadent dining, under the watchful eye of Rembrandt’s replicas. The restaurant, name after renowned artist Rembrandt Van Rijns wife and muse, is a modern tribute to life and art.

2) With Chef Shane, Princess and the team in the beautiful open-plan farm kitchen at Khaya Ndlovu, you can only imagine the quality and quantity of food that is produced here. Their meals are prepared with care and only the freshest ingredients are used. 

3) The Le'Thaba Restaurant and Patio Bar is situated within the Fairview Hotel in Tzaneen. This highly versatile venue offers a variety of scrumptious breakfasts, lunches and dinners prepared by our well-trained kitchen personnel in a relaxed and family friendly environment.

The main restaurant is elegantly decorated, with warm earthly colours, solid wood furniture, a large fireplace to create the perfect atmosphere during the colder months of the year, interesting artwork and the baby grand piano to complete the ambience. The Le’Thaba restaurants indulgent menu, created by our accredited chefs, is inspired by the use of fresh local ingredients- which will seasonably be found on our menu.
