5 LITTLE ROMANTIC SURPRISES THAT WON’T COST YOU A CENT
April 10, 2019
We’ve all been there – you really want to treat your partner to a token of appreciation, but it’s the middle of the month and your funds are running seriously low. Like beans-on-toast-for-dinner low. Happily, we’re here to tell you that you can treat your partner to a romantic surprise that doesn’t have to cost a single cent. All you need to do is get a little creative with the resources you have on hand!
Here are five of our favourite thrifty romantic surprises:
READ UP ABOUT THAT THING THEY LOVE
People have some super weird interests. Does your guy love dystopian literature or anime fan fiction? Or maybe your girl enjoys stock car racing, embroidery or watching documentaries about super factories?
Get into it. Read up about it so you can ask a few intelligent questions and allow them to tell you all about it.
GO ALL GOOEY ON THEM
Once in a while, go full-on goofy. Send that soppy text message, leave a note in their lunch box, or just hold their hand and tell them they look gosh-darn beautiful today. Bonus points if you can work it all into one day and get them to blush at least once!
VISIT MEMORY LANE
Unearth those folders with the pictures from when you just got together, play the tunes from that time and reminisce. It’s important to remember where you come from, so you can figure out where you’re headed.
GIVE THEM TIME TO RELAX
When your partner gets home from work, let them know that they have a full hour to do exactly as they please. Offer to draw them a bath or give them a foot massage. Odds are they simply want to zone out on the couch for a while without having to engage with anyone. Space is a luxury we often forget to give.
DO THAT THING THEY HATE TO DO
Take down the washing, clean the hair from the drain, catch the spider, do the dishes, get the oil changed in their car, pick up the dog poop. Everyone has that one chore they simply despise. Treat your partner to a day without the drudgery.
These are just five of the budget-savvy ways in which you can spoil your partner. Remember, it’s not the size of the gesture that counts, it’s that you remember to make it in the first place. Happy romancing!
