4 INTERESTING WAYS TO SAFEGUARD YOUR FAMILY THIS SUMMER

The holidays are here and for many of us that means it’s time to pack up and head off on a marvellous summertime adventure with our nearest and dearest over the festive season. Happy days! However, before you head off, there are certain precautions you should take to ensure your crew’s safety while you enjoy some well-deserved time off.

Here are a few interesting tips to get you started:

STOP POSTAL DELIVERIES
A sure-fire way to alert opportunistic criminals of the fact that your house is unattended is to let uncollected post accumulate in your post box. Take the time to cancel newspaper deliveries, etc. before you leave, or ask a neighbour who’s not headed off on vacation to clear your post box on your behalf every few days.

TAKE YOUR VITAMINS & PROBIOTICS
If there is one thing that will derail a well-planned holiday at a drop of a hat, it’s someone (or a few people!) getting sick. It just spoils all the fun. As such, it pays to stay as healthy as you can, and to start caring for your holiday bod even before you head off. Take your vitamins and probiotics, drink plenty of fluids, get adequate rest and eat the rainbow – you know the drill. Also: sunscreen!

CHECK YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
It can be very tempting to check into all the fabulous places you visit on holiday, but that’s also a great way for a would-be criminal to keep tabs on your whereabouts if they mean to break into your home or run into you unawares in a strange location. Rather keep things on the DL until you get home, and then post a nice selection of your holiday pics.

LOOP IN A TRUSTED FEW
Before you head off on holiday, create a Dropbox folder (or similar cloud-based storage space) where you can store a copy or your itinerary, relevant insurance information (car, household, life insurance, etc.), as well as copies of your identification documents, airplane tickets, accommodation booking confirmations, etc. Share this folder with a trusted few back home to ensure that they have access to all your vital information if something should happen while you’re on holiday.

As always, it’s best to be prepared for the unexpected. If you don’t currently have life insurance in place to safeguard your family’s livelihood in the event that something should happen to you on your trip, you may want to take a look at the MiWayLife offering. MiWayLife offers a 4-in-1 policy with only one monthly premium. This innovative concept provides comprehensive life cover for you, funeral cover for you and your extended family, as well as a terminal illness accelerator.

There you have it – four interesting ways to keep your family safe as you venture off on holiday this summer. Keep an eye on the blog in coming weeks and months as we share more insight into on love, life and relationships. In the meantime, feel free to get in touch with a MiWayLife representative if you would like to learn more about their life insurance offering.
