TURN YOUR DRIVE INTO A DATE WITH COOL CAR GAMES
February 25, 2018
If you’re the kind of person who lives to seize the day, you’ll know that life is not about the destination, but about the joy of the journey. Why wait for a special occasion to have some fun with your partner?
With a little imagination you can turn something as seemingly mundane as a drive into a thrill-a-minute adventure. You don’t need to go on a full-on road trip to spend some quality time with your guy or girl – you can shake things up on the way to the grocery store or dinner at your parents’. All it takes is a well-developed sense of fun!
Here are a few car games to dial up the fun when you get behind the wheel:
SPEAK IN SONG
Carry on a conversation using only the titles or lyrics from songs. E.g. You can go your own way / Oops ...I did it again / There's such a difference between us, and a million miles / Oh well whatever never mind.
This is particularly fun if you have a share love of music. Bonus points if you can work in a song lyric from one of your partner’s favourite tunes that is guaranteed to have them break out in song, so you can capture it on video and tease them mercilessly afterwards!
MAKE UP LIVES
Choose another car on the road and spend some time working out an elaborate back-story for the passengers inside. Who are they? What is their relationship? Are they a group of spies, on their way to catch an international villain?
Or perhaps he is a foreign dignitary on a diplomatic visit to South Africa, who met a local songstress at a music festival and decided to give up his life of international travel to settle down with her in Ceres to grow cherries and raise chickens. Get creative and share your stories.
Scattergories is a board game in which you score points by uniquely naming objects within a set of categories, given an initial letter, within a time limit. Take the concept of the game on the road by randomly picking a letter, and challenging your partner to name a man's name, women's name, fruit/vegetable, pet and city starting with that letter.
These are just a few of the cool car games you can play to turn any trip into a raucously fun outing. Life happens - make sure every journey is enjoyable by investing in the car of your dreams.
