SPLASHY FEN
Splashy Fen Farm, Underburg, KwaZulu-Natal
Splashy Fen, South Africa's longest-running and oldest music festival, is much more than just a celebration of music—it's a vibrant festival that embodies life, art, love, laughter, and joy, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Drakensberg, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Founded in 1990 by Peter Ferraz and Bart Fokkens, the festival began as a small gathering after a night of red wine around a fire, with only about 100 attendees expected. However, the inaugural event drew around 400 musicians and festivalgoers, and by 1995, Splashy Fen had grown into the country’s largest music festival.
Over the years, it has welcomed over 150,000 people and provided a platform for the growth of numerous South African music careers. Now known as "SA’s Friendliest Music Festival," Splashy Fen has enjoyed a remarkable revival, drawing music lovers from across the continent and around the world to one of the most stunning festival locations in the country.
