FAMILY FRIENDLY FILMS AT THE GALILEO
December 08, 2017
Lush green lawns, a feast of yummy food and a great film to boot – just the bare necessities for a fantastic family outing. The Galileo Open Air Cinema has a family friendly line-up to deliver all that and more this summer, at venues across the city and winelands.
From November to April, Cape Town’s summer staple will be screening a selection of classic animated and live action films like Frozen, The Jungle Book, The Lion King and Home Alone. Kids, their parents, and nostalgic twenty-somethings are all bound to find something to be swept away by – or, at the very least, sing-along to.
In addition, and back by popular demand, Family Sundays at Kelvin Grove run throughout the December holidays, starting out with Moana on 10 December. For these screenings, doors open early, at 4pm, and kids are encouraged to work off their energy with various interactive games, face painting, jumping castles and other outdoor activities before the film starts soon after sunset. With child minders on hand, picnic baskets available to order and vendors serving up delicious food, parents can sit back, relax and just like Princess Elsa, let it go.
