FOOL-PROOF FIRST DATE IDEAS FOR SOUTH AFRICAN ROMANTICS
January 23, 2018
Congratulations, you did it! You bit the bullet, braved your fear of the unknown and asked that intriguing girl or guy out on a date. That took some serious cojones, but your trials aren’t over just yet – now comes the First Date. Not to lay on the pressure, but you only have one stab at the all-important first date, which should ideally strike a nice balance between comfortable, fun and exciting.
To make things a little easier, we’ve made a list of fool-proof first date ideas for South African romantics. Feel free to combine one or more of these ideas and to personalise it to suit your taste, and remember to have some fun!
AWESOME FIRST DATE IDEAS THAT ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO MESS UP
GO FOR COFFEE
A coffee date is a simple, no fuss way to get to know one another a little better in a pressure-free setting. Dial up the interest factor by scoping out the newest coffee shop in your vicinity, getting some take-away coffee to enjoy in a pretty park (stick to busy parks with plenty of people so your date will feel at ease), or map out an urban hike that takes you to a few coffee-stops along the way.
TAKE AN INTERESTING CLASS
This date idea is a little riskier – after all, you only know so much about your date’s interests if this is your first shared outing, but it certainly makes for a very interesting encounter that will ease any uncomfortable lulls in conversation. We recommend a cooking class, pottery lesson, live drawing session or a wine appreciation seminar. Just keep it short and sweet (no more than an hour) and offer the option of a drink or cup of coffee afterwards.
JOIN IN ON A LOCAL EVENT
Visit a street fair, grab coffee and a koeksisters at the local church bazaar, check out some live music in the park or gather the makings of a picnic at a fresh food market on a Saturday. If your date is obviously fit and active, you could even invite them to partake in a 5km fun run. These kinds of activities are a lot of fun and much more memorable than an awkward meal at a restaurant where there may not be a lot to talk about.
These are just a few of our fool-proof first date ideas. Keep an eye on the blog in coming weeks and months as we unveil some more…
