EASTER ACTIVITIES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

Eastertime is family time. If you’re a parent, caregiver, legal guardian or step-parent who’ll be enjoying some time at home with the kids over the holidays, you know things can get a little hectic if you don’t have activities planned. This is why we’ve rustled up a few family date ideas that will keep the kids entertained (and you sane!) over the school break.

GET CREATIVE IN THE KITCHEN
Easter is all about the eggs, so it makes sense to head to the kitchen to have some fun. Dye your own Easter eggs, whip up a batch of bunny-shaped cookies or be really adventurous and try your hand at making your own chocolate eggs using a mould. While you’ve got the kids in there, you can use the time to discuss food groups, the importance of a balanced diet and why we should all try to keep our bodies healthy. You could even draw up a family eating plan and discuss healthy lunch box ideas.

TOP TIP: See if you can find an organic farm or petting zoo in your vicinity where your kids can see real, live chickens and find out how eggs are lain. This can turn into a nice learning experience that you can continue at home to instil the notion of where our food comes from.

HEAD FOR THE HILLS!
It can be tempting to stick the kids in from of the TV to keep them out of your hair, but outdoor activities can be just as much fun if you take the time to make it appealing. Paint ball and laser tag are popular with the boys, and a themed picnic is sure to entice the girls. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you could always lace up those boots and head towards a relatively easy hiking route in your vicinity – pack a birding book and some binoculars to learn more about your region’s aviary lifeforms while you’re at it! Rainy outside? No problem – have an indoor dance party in the living room. Put on some tunes, crank the volume, dress up and get down! The key is to get them moving.

These are just a few of the ways you can keep the kids entertained over the Easter holidays. Keep an eye on the Date Night Ideas website and blog for more fun ideas and activities to make the most of the school break and spend some quality time with your children.
